Lower Mill Pond

Lower Mill Pond

The Lower Mill Pond was one of two reservoirs constructed to power water-wheels - which drove the gunpowder mills.  The pond is originates from the Oare Stream, feeding into the Oare Creek.  More recently, the other lakes around the site have been created through the process of gravel extraction.

This area has now reverted to a beautiful natural wetland, find out more on the Wildlife page.
