June

Young birds fly from branch to branch, trees are in flower and there are many insects flying around. Look for ladybird larvae feeding on aphids (greenfly) on nettle plants and watch the streamside plants growing rapidly. Migratory birds like swallows and swifts may be seen feeding on flying insects and, in the evening, sipping water from the millpond. Each insect has its own annual cycle – eggs, larvae, pupae and adults – each in certain months of the year.
