October

The seed of the horse chestnut tree is visible on the ground as a conker. They fall out of their prickly cases and if left will grow next year into small trees. Sweet chestnuts fall to the ground in even more prickly cases. Squirrels relish the sweet chestnut and can be seen eating and burying surplus supplies ready for the winter. The leaves of many trees are changing colour and begin to fall to the ground.
